President Noynoy Aquino - The Benefits Of Having Noynoy as President
Although many people are obviously happy with having Noynoy as president, obviously not everybody is happy. Some people do not like Noynoy Aquino because of his lack of achievements and track record.
But, let’s look at the bright side and be happy with what we have. There are actually benefits of having Noynoy Aquino as president of the Philippines.
Erap lost. At least we still have a face to show people from other countries. At least we did not re-elect our deposed president.
ABS-CBN can now say something good about the president. Since ABS-CBN’s favorite candidate won, you can now expect some good news about the president in their station.
The President will use terms that will be understood by the masses. Since Noynoy is not very intelligent, words that he will use are very simple (i.e. daang baluktot at daang matuwid).
We can say “Now, we are even!” to Ninoy and Cory. A lot of people felt they needed to vote Noynoy as way of saying thanks to Ninoy and Cory for their “heroic” acts. Now, we can say they are properly compensated.
The last person who benefits from the “I voted for him because he’s an Aquino”-reason is Noynoy. Some people think that what we have is some sort of a monarchy since people with similar last names get good government positions. For the Aquino’s, Noynoy could be the last president, since he has no son (yet).
Many people seem to trust Noynoy. Regardless of his capabilities, people trust Noynoy. As long he obviously does something stupid, he can appoint smarter Filipinos to do the work for him and our country will do “just fine”.
Having an Imelda-like figure is slim. Since Noynoy is single (for now), we won’t have to be scared of presidential spouses who magnetize money like Imelda and FG.
You can redeem yourself if you have a good family name. If your family or parents have a good reputation but destroyed it, you can still redeem yourself just by doing nothing and keeping your family name.
We can say the US politics is quite similar in the Philippines. We now have our version of George Bush.
