Noynoy and Hacienda Luisita
In the news, Noynoy mentioned that they will be giving up the 6,453-hectare Hacienda Luisita that their family owns in approximately 5 years regardless if he wins or not. Definitely, a lot of people were happy about this news. Everyone is happy for the farmers who have waited for decades to get this land.
However, I don’t understand how he can promise such thing as he only owns less than 1% share in the property. The remaining shares are owned by the siblings of Cory Aquino. Cory did not give up Hacienda Luisita even if the law was written during her presidency. What makes Noynoy think that he can give it away now?
Thoughts? I’m confused.
